Hyperbaric Chamber

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment in which you breathe 100% oxygen inside a specially designed chamber, where the atmospheric pressure is higher than normal. This increased pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve in the blood and reach tissues more effectively, promoting repair and regeneration.

HBOT is also a valuable support tool in the postoperative period, as it helps reduce inflammation, improve tissue oxygenation, accelerate healing, and lower the risk of complications and infections. For these reasons, it is used as a complementary treatment in various surgical procedures, supporting a faster and more effective recovery.

BENEFITS

of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves administering 100% oxygen inside a pressurized chamber at a pressure higher than atmospheric, usually between two and three absolute atmospheres. Under these conditions, the amount of oxygen dissolved in the blood plasma increases significantly, allowing it to reach tissues more effectively, even in areas where microcirculation may be compromised.

The increased availability of oxygen at the cellular level supports essential physiological processes. HBOT has been shown to improve tissue oxygenation, stimulate the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), promote collagen synthesis, and enhance the body’s natural repair and healing mechanisms. It also boosts the bactericidal activity of white blood cells and helps reduce edema through controlled vasoconstriction, without diminishing oxygen delivery to tissues.

During a session, the pressure inside the chamber is gradually increased. You may experience a temporary sensation of ear pressure, similar to what occurs during a flight; this is easily relieved by yawning or performing pressure-equalizing maneuvers. Sessions typically last around 60 minutes and are monitored at all times by trained professionals.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a safe treatment when applied following established medical protocols, using certified equipment, and under proper professional supervision.
